I am taking part in the Cardiff Memory Walk along with my Mam and sister. I want to help raise money for Alzheimer's Society as raising just £50 can make a huge difference to the lives of people with dementia. Fundraising will help to provide families with vital support and will help towards research to find a cure for dementia.

I am walking in memory of my Great Nanna Penn who was affected by this cruel and debilitating disease. There was nothing worse than going to visit my Nan knowing that she was no longer the bubbly, chatty woman that we all knew and loved. More often than not we would be sat by her side and she would have no idea of our names or who we was. To sit and watch someone you love become a complete stranger is one of the hardest things we had to do especially when we knew there was nothing that anyone could do.

After 8 years of being affected by Alzheimers my nan passed away peacefully on 31/01/2008 at the age of 92 with her family by her side. So on the 15th September I shall be wearing my T-shirt with the photo of my nan on with pride and will be taking her along with me on the memory walk.
