Story
This year I started volunteering with Winter Night Shleter in MK. It has been such a heart warming and humbling experience for me . One that has moved me to want to help them, so they can continue with the amazing work they do and keep people out of the cold and give them a hot dinner, a warm bed and somewhere to feel safe.
Talking with and listening to the guests at the WNS each week has opened my eyes to how easy it can be to one day have no where to go or no one to help. Sometimes they had no control over the situations, sometimes they were at fault, but one thing was clear, these are just poeple, like you and I. People who have made mistakes as we all have, but more often than not they were vulnerable. It made me see more than ever that we must not judge, we must show compassion, treat people as people, not as a “homeless”. We do not know the story of how some people end up with no one to turn to and no where to stay but I promise you if you did learn their story you would see them in a completely different light. Perhaps even feel compelled to take action.
So if you could be so kind to donate to this amazing local charity and support them in helping people get back on their feet, it will make my run worth every step.
