September 100 mile cycle and Plymouth 10k run · 3 September 2018
I have suffered with mental health issues, from depression, self harm and being suicidal since being a teenager. This condition has evolved with age, resulting in me suffering 2 breakdowns since 2011, the latest one is still ongoing and has lasted 2 years so far. As a result i am unable to work, or function normally. I cannot be left on my own during my lowest days and i suffer a vicious cycle of chronic fatigue and insomnia coupled with hypermania. I just want to raise awareness of the varying degrees of mental health disorders, and encourage people to make use if what little there is in the way of support, so they can try to avoid using street drugs and alcohol to self medicate. Many of us are judged, misunderstood and improperly diagnosed and treated for our conditions. Hopefully, by raising awareness and funds, more research can be done on the subject and better levels of diagnosis and care can then be provided. Thank you for reading my personal story.
