Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Many of you visiting this page will be friends or family of a Laura's Lovely Jubblies teammate and so may have already heard my story. I would firstly like to say I am so grateful for everyones well wishes, support and love over the three years since my diagnosis. If you haven't heard my story and you would like to, please read on for a very shortened version.
I was 27 years old and 25 weeks pregnant when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. What happened next went in a blur. It involved 2 operations under general anaesthetic (whilst pregnant) to remove the lump and ensure clear margins. Our daughter Iris needed to be born 8 weeks early in order for me to begin Chemo and Radiotherapy and she spent the first 6 weeks of her life in Southmead NICU being helped to breathe and feed. I started Chemotherapy 3 weeks after Iris was born and following this had Radiotherapy, a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery.
I've wanted for a long time (and so have many of my family and friends) to raise money that would directly go towards the Bristol Breast Care Unit their Consultants and staff that have been so kind and dedicated in there efforts to help and support me through the last 3 years. I would like to say a special thank you to my consultant Mr Sahu, who no matter how busy, took the time to talk me through things and in dark times was so reassuring. I am raising money for BUST who are an associated charity to the Breast Care Centre that raise funds in order to buy vital equipment that helps saves lives.
Please donate even if its only a little because we can help make a difference. Its cancers turn to be afraid!!! For more information on BUST please Visit their website www.bustbristol.co.uk
