We support families of sick&preterm babies to improve their wellbeing

Story

So as many people know our amazing daughter Holly was born unexpectedly at 30 weeks gestation. Although  she was born at the RVI in Newcastle, there wasn't a bed for her, and so a few hours later she was transferred to James Cook in Middlesbrough. Not only was this the scariest time of our lives, our baby was going to be 59 miles from our home in Morpeth which only added to the worry and stress. Throughout her time at James cook Leo's were on hand to offer support, starting with a care box for us, and the support continued after we brought her home. They are a parent-led charity with extensive first-hand knowledge and experience of neonatal care, who offer an array of support for neonatal mental health and neonatal child development including counselling, peer support, EMDR, occupational therapy, neonatal yoga, baby massage, attachment, swimming, messy play, sensory play sessions and more.

Having had to go through those NICU doors that no parent wants to step through, we want to help Leo's contiue the amazing work they're doing to support other families like us, and so we are going to walk the Northumberland Coast. We wanted to make it significant to what we went through, and so we are walking the 59 miles that Holly was away from where we hoped she would be. We are doing this over just 2 days, so a huge challenge, but not a patch on the challenge the parents we would be raising money to support will be going through. We would love all of you to get behind us and support this amazing cause, believe us, they really are a lifeline to so many and we want to show them how grateful we are!!

Thank you
