Volunteering Project in Nepal 2018

BVDA Nepal Project 2018 · 5 March 2018
This summer over the course of 7 weeks I will be volunteering with 5 other Bristol/UWE students in Sima Doheri, a village in the Baglung region of Nepal, in collaboration with local NGO 'Partnership for Sustainable Development' (PSD) and BVDA (Bristol Volunteers for Development Abroad) - a student led charity which aims to promote sustainable development across the globe throughout various grassroots projects.
During the project we will be:
1. Reconstructing a main road damaged by the heavy monsoon season in 2015 to allow children to safely go to school.
2. Renovating and painting school buildings, repairing teaching equipment.
3. Building 10 smokeless, fuel-efficient stoves - these will help prevent respiratory diseases in poorly ventilated homes.
4. Constructing soak pits - to collect grey water waste from washing dishes and clothes in order to improve sanitary conditions.
5. Teaching English and WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) in a local school as well as a 2 day health and sanitation awareness programme for the whole community.
6. Build rubbish collection pits for food and plant waste to improve the soil fertility
I am very excited about this opportunity and would be extremely grateful for any donations which all go towards hiring local engineers, buying materials and teaching equipment (and not personal costs such as flights, vaccinations, insurance etc. which I will be paying myself)
Thank you! :)
