Dear friends and family,
Im doing a little run for Shelter this weekend, to raise a bit of cash for the homeless; its impossible to walk around London, or any town or city in the UK, and not encounter a homeless person. It seems to me that over the years, there are more and more homeless people on the streets, and it makes me very angry and sad that people have to live like this and that in our society, this is commonplace and just part of life; it really shouldnt be.
We're all very lucky and fortunate to have a roof over our head and naturally we take this for granted, but imagine, if you will, what it would be like to spend a night on the streets; it would be unimaginable, frightening, filthy and demoralising to say the least.
If I could ask you to spare a bit of your change, and donate whatever you can afford to Shelter to help the homeless this coming winter, I'd be grateful, but I'd imagine that the homeless people who actually benefit from Shelter being able to find them a safe place to stay, will be far more grateful than I, or you, could ever comprehend.
Much love and thanks,
Laurie
