Tough Mudder · 8 June 2013

We brighten the lives of seriously ill young people by granting wishes and providing ongoing support. Our wishes are as unique as the children themselves and whether a child wants to be a fireman, meet a real-life mermaid or even the Loch Ness Monster, we work hard to make that wish come true.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Our team will be running the Tough Mudder challenge on the 8th June 2013. This is a 12 mile obstacle course which will force us to run through a heap of obstacles which will get us wet and muddy and even running through wires rigged up to 10,000 volts of electricity!

Rather than sign up to one of the usual big charities, we wanted to raise money for a less well-known charity. The charity that we chose is one that really helps seriously ill children and their families. This charity helped out a colleague of ours last year when his daughter Holly was diagnosed with cancer.

Rays of Sunshine Children's Charity was formed in 2003 to help children who are living with serious or life-limiting illnesses between the ages of 3-18, across the United Kingdom. It does this in a number of ways such as granting these children's wishes however impossible the wish may seem, granting hospital ward wishes and organising events and outings for large groups of children such as trip to Legoland and the Sunshine Concert.

Holly's Story

In March 2011 Holly was diagnosed with a life threatening sacoma cancer. She was given 2 months at best, however after 11 months of 8 chemo cycles, 5 weeks worth of daily radiotherapy treament and two major operations she beat the cancer.

In July 2012 Rays of Sunshine allowed Holly and her parents to go to the Peppa Pig World so that Holly could get her wish of meeting Peppa Pig herself. They were able to provide a hotel to stay in and entry into the park so that Holly could meet Peppa Pig.

Holly was over the moon, and allowed the family to have a great couple of days out after all the treatment with Holly and to see her smile again.
