Sponsored Silence! · 21 October 2018

We’ve been providing in-depth, expert information and wide-ranging support for over 35 years, helping thousands of people affected by lymphoma. Our work drives improvements in the diagnosis, treatment, and aftercare of lymphoma.

Story

In June 2017 I was diagnosed with Lymphoma. I had chemotherapy through July, August and September. Then radiotherapy in October and November. This was an unexpected shock from a routine IBD investigation and within two weeks of diagnosis I began the treatment with a subsequent 10 months away from work.

Those of you who know me will know how difficult it is for me to stop talking!! IMPOSSIBLE!!!! So to mark one year since my radiotherapy I am going to begin a sponsored silence on each day and at the same time I had my treatment last year. 26th October-17th November. I get Sundays/Mondays off which last year were the weekends between those dates. They are all at different times of day. I am not sure what I will be doing each day so some will be a greater challenge than others. I am aiming to be silent to match the preparation and treatment each day - typically this was for two hours.

Macmillan and Lymphoma Action offered great support alongside the amazing care at the Dimbleby Cancer Centre at Guy's and St.Thomas.
