Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am trying to raise as much money for the tackle Africa charity and will be training very hard over the next month and a half. I will be cycling to school most days that's (16 miles-there and back) and will try and get as much football in before the big day. I cannot explain what an amazing day and experience this is but it is also one of the hardest physical challenges I have participated in. We start at 8am and finish around 8pm, the matches last 25-30 mins and it is a 6 a side tournament. We usually play 25 matches so you can do the maths there!! I am not asking for a great deal of money because I know everyone has outgoings but if you could please spare any small donation I will be extremely grateful and it goes to a great cause. Here is what tackle Africa do:
Many young people in Africa love football. But their location and their age means they’re most at risk of contracting HIV.
This is because Sub-Saharan Africa is home to over 90% of the world’s HIV-positive children, and over two thirds of all people living with HIV, live here.
TackleAfrica uses the power and popularity of football to deliver HIV education to young people on football pitches across the continent. Specifically, we train African coaches to use fun, interactive football drills with the young people in their clubs and communities.
Each drill contains a sexual health message about HIV that unfolds as they play. Drills are designed so that young people learn through play, in a way they enjoy, remember and understand. Through the messages in these drills, we educate and challenge young players to make safer decisions, limiting the impact of HIV in their families and communities.
We are grateful for our African partners across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. We work closely with a range of organisations, from grassroots community based organisations to international NGOs and government ministries. These partners help us find and develop football coaches in their regions, and allow us to reach thousands of young Africans every year.
