Highland Cross is a 50 mile duathlon (walking or running 20 miles and cycling 30 miles) across Scotland from Kintail to Beauly. The event is organised by volunteers to raise funds for charities across the Highlands. Since 1983, over £6.3m has been raised and distributed in full to deserving causes.

Story

Hello all,

I'm doing my first Highland Cross this year and hoping to raise plenty of money for the various charities and foundations which benefit from the proceeds each year. The race is a 50 mile duathlon from Kintail to Beauly, passing through Glen Affric en route. Our team name is Stumpy and the Marines, and features top local athletes Sam Ferguson and Olly Williams. For more info on the race and the charities involved, see http://www.highlandcross.co.uk/index.htm

I'm also looking to beat the Old Man's best time, set in 1988, although he claims he can't remember exactly what it was. As a 25 year veteran of the Cross, he's earned the right to walk instead of run, but the competitive streak lives on.

Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated and goes directly to the nominated charities with nothing deducted. Please dig deep!

Thanks,

Lawrie
