Story

Save the UK's CharitiesGeneral fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income.

Today my parents and I will be taking on the 2.6 challenge that launched last Sunday. I will be running for 26 minutes, cycling 26km and doing 26 squats, burpees, press ups, crunches and lunges. My dad will be joining with the 26km cycling and my mum will be cycling and running 2.6km, and doing 26 squats. We’re doing this to try and raise money for ICP, a charity very close to my heart. Without the help of the charity’s founder, I would not be here.

Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) is a liver condition specific to pregnancy which is associated with fetal distress, spontaneous premature labour and in severe cases, still birth.

They, like most other charities are struggling due to the Coronavirus. They receive no government funding so rely solely on donations.

The charity is very important at a time like this as it supports vulnerable pregnant women and aims to ensure that every ICP baby is born safely. Demand for their support systems has increased particularly as pregnant women are receiving fewer visits with health care professionals.

If you could please donate I would be very grateful, even if it’s only a few pounds as I understand that there are lots of fundraisers for different charities at the moment.

Note: the cycling is on an exercise bike and the running on a treadmill so that we are not exercising outside for over the hour guideline.
