Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am running the Chester 10k for the British Heart Foundation.
When my sister, Amy, was 3 months old, she was diagnosed with a blocked left atrium, became critically ill and had to undergo open heart surgery. Thankfully, the surgery was a success, and I got to grow up with a big sister (who would go on to make me watch her dance routines to the spice girls, which were…great). But in all honesty, she has completely earned her life. She’s funny, successful, and her little boy is the funniest dude you could ever wish to meet. I couldn’t be prouder to call her my sister, and but for the research that charities such as the BHF carry out, things may not have turned out as well as they have. However, a few years ago she was diagnosed with PAPVR (partial anomalous pulmonary venous return). While this doesn’t cause her too many uncomfortable symptoms, there may be a possibility of further surgery in the future.
Charities like the BHF not only carry out important research, but they are a constant source of information for her and they are a really important resource for those with heart conditions and their worried families.
I understand that times are hard at the moment, but if you could find it in your “heart” (see what I did there) to spare a few quid and donate, it would mean a lot to me and I know it would mean a lot to Amy.
Thanks very much
Lee.
PS, I’m doing the run with my brother Mark, but if there are no pictures of us together, its because by the time I finish the race, he will have gone home, had a shower, made some food, read a book and grown 3 days older..
