Under a Tarp is a global challenge that I will be taking part in, in order to raise funds for Streetlife, a homeless charity in Blackpool.

I have a personal interest in this area as I have served a full career in the military and have known many service personnel who through difficulties have ended up living on the street.

Fact: 778 people died on the streets in 2019, this is the figures for England and Wales only. (ONS 2019)

Military or civilian, no one should be living on the street! 

I will be spending Thursday night sleeping on cardboard and under a tarpaulin in freezing conditions on the Rossall School campus where I work as the Commanding Officer of the CCF, manager of the DofE Award, and the Director of Adventure Leadership. 

Streetlife's Mission:

Established in 1982, Streetlife is an organisation which assists vulnerable young people in Blackpool, a lot of whom access our service as homeless.

Our aim is to enable and empower them to make informed choices, about issues affecting their lives. We provide support – for those up to the age of 26 – from The Base, our Day Centre, and Night Shelter, which serves as emergency accommodation for those who need it most.
