Story

 30th April 2015

On July 3rd 2015 “Team Leitz” will be making their way to Fort William in Scotland to the start of their ‘Three Peaks Challenge’ to raise money for children’s charities Action Medical Research and Haven House Children’s Hospice.

Brian Maddox, Tony Kumm and Dave McCann, with support provided by Dave Jepson and Simon Liddell, will climb the three highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours. The hike and climb of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon mountain will total more than 23 miles over 11,000 feet, with a lot of driving in between.

Leitz Tooling’s chosen children’s charities are Action Medical Research which is dedicated to improving the health of babies and children through research (www.action.org.uk), and Haven House Children’s Hospice, which delivers specialist nursing care making a huge difference to life-limited children and their families.

It’s a very tough challenge, particularly for the novice climbers. Training injuries have already been suffered by Tony Kumm, but as he picked himself up he said “It’s all about the kids; that’s why we’re doing this insane thing. Even with what we’re going through in training and over the 24 hours of the actual climb, we are without a doubt the lucky ones. This is nothing compared to what these children and families go through on a daily basis and it’s our privilege to help”.

Team Leitz’s Three Peaks Challenge has been funded by the company, so all money raised will go in full directly to the charities. Every donation will make a difference whether they make it (in one piece) or not, so they ask that you give whatever you can.

If Team Leitz reach their fundraising target of £3,000, one lucky contributor will be chosen at random to receive a Surprise Prize, so dig deep and give your support!
