I've never raised money for charity before. I've never shared a personal story publicly before. And I've never climbed Europe's highest peak before. Well, there is the first time for everything.
The cause The Nehemiah Project supports is so close to my heart, that it is not easy to talk about it. The charity helps men to break free from the cycle of addiction and criminal behaviours - it provides support and tools to transform their lives and receive a second chance.
I grew up with a brother who had issues of criminal behaviour and I only wish that a charity like The Nehemiah Project would have been there for him. So I'm doing this for him, for myself and for all the people that are wishing for that second chance.
I will be climbing Mont Blanc, Europe's highest peak (4,810m / 15,871ft). The climb will involve 4 days of acclimatisation, including hopefully a summit of Gran Paradiso, Italy's highest mountain. The preparation stage is needed to get the body prepared to function well into thin air, and then given an OK weather this leads us to the summit of Mont Blanc. On the day it will be 12 grueling hours of climbing which promises to be a chilling experience (i.e., -20C at the summit).
I hope you can support the cause !
