Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Alongside its tragic impact on individuals, the COVID-19 pandemic has had wide reaching effects on deserving charitable organisations, with many being closed and thus losing vital revenue.

The new International Bomber Command Centre (IBCC) https:/internationalbcc.co.uk has been hard hit. This fabulous museum and memorial centre, a fitting tribute to the thousands of RAF, Commonwealth and Allied crews who served and, in many cases gave their lives, needs and deserves our assistance. The community at RAF Coningsby is determined to help.

When restrictions allow, a team from the 29 Squadron family, based at RAF Coningsby, will undertake an arduous 26.2-mile (42 km) hike across ‘Bomber County’ to the IBCC. This is provisionally set for Saturday 24 April 2021 (if C-19 prevents the event taking part on this date, it will occur at a later date). The route takes in the 106 Sqn memorial at former RAF Metheringham, a squadron which served with distinction throughout WWII and was the first to operate from RAF Coningsby when it became operational in March 1941.

Sponsorship for the team and other voluntary individuals taking part is very much welcomed and can be made on this ‘Just Giving’ page. Updates on the event and team training will be posted regularly for you to follow as well as live updates on the day itself.

We thank you in advance for your very kind support towards a centre which means so much historically and provides education and employment in the community.

Kind regards,

Tristan
