CARE International's Lendwithcare initiative supports people setting up and developing their small businesses in developing countries. and addresses one of the biggest challenges facing poor people – access to affordable financial services. 

Affordable financial services are central to addressing poverty.  Without these services families have no way of accessing  money and are often forced to take high interest loans, often from private moneylenders, in order to expand their business, pay for medicines or, too often, just to feed their family. Microfinance helps the some of the poorest earn a living, grow their businesses and create new jobs, pulling whole communities out of poverty.

With your support, we have already supported over 10,000 poor people with loans totaling more than £5 million and with on-time repayment of 99%, but there are many more people who need our help. Our approach to addressing poverty is supported by Islamic teachings which aim to preserve dignity and promote self-reliance among the poor rather than encourage dependency.
