Basti Ram is a charity that works to help underprivileged communities in India. We run education & health projects which give street children, disabled children, primary school children and orphans opportunities to take part, learn new skills, build confidence & to realise their own potential.

Story

i'm a photographer who has just become a volunteer to teach for the 'Life Through the Lens' Photography Project. i leave in march and need to raise £1200. i'm doing this because i have been looking and hoping for an exciting opportunity where I can offer my time, enthusiasm, skills and strengths, in return for the chance to learn and develop. ‘Life through the Lens’ is just that. I can’t solve all the world’s problems but I can help others to deal with their own.

When I was younger I lost my mother but did not receive any kind of help to deal with my thoughts and emotions. Over this last year I become aware of Art Therapy and its ethos. Recently I have worked closely with a group of children on the autistic spectrum and with diagnosed ADHD. As many of the group have challenges with communicating their thoughts verbally, this opportunity enabled them to not only express their concerns and feelings about their community but also to create aesthetic images with significant importance.

In life I wish to share and learn skills and experiences, this opportunity to take part in this project would enable me to do this in the wholesome manor I desire.

I believe in this project so much and if you do too please donate .

please take a look at these images from my last art therapy class. they really show how the children enjoyed this photography project and also shows some of the struggles that can occur.
