Mae Murray Foundation is a charity based in Northern Ireland, working to create a society where disabled people of all ages and abilities can participate fully and feel a true sense of belonging. Too often, disabled individuals and families are excluded from everyday life due to physical, social, and attitudinal barriers. This leads to isolation, poor mental health, and a lack of opportunity. We believe no one should be left behind. We work with disabled people to co-create inclusive activities, events and programmes — from beach days and all-ability clubs to online workshops and systemic advocacy. Everything we do is shaped by lived experience. We’re building a world where disabled people and families feel seen, supported and celebrated — but inclusion doesn’t happen by accident. It takes challenge, collaboration and real change. By supporting us, you're helping break down barriers and create lasting impact. Together, we can create a society where everyone can belong, participate, and thrive.

Story

I had the bright idea of signing up to do a middle distance triathlon, a HALF IRONMAN, because some "friends" think I can do it.

I've only ever done a SPRINT triathlon before. Let's compare:

0.5 vs 1.2 mile swim
12.4 vs 56 mile cycle
3.1 vs 13.1 mile run

I was only hoping to raise a few pounds and already have £320 on facebook for the Mae Murray Foundation but people have been asking for a JustGiving page so here we are

Below is an extract about Mae, but this ethos shows in everything the MMF do for their members, including our son Jack:

"There was nothing Mae loved more than designing ways and means to ensure that her granddaughter, Talia – who has cerebral palsy – experienced opportunities that most of us take for granted"
