I am running this year's London Marathon and wanted to use my ballot place to raise money for a local charity that might not be familiar to many of you, but which does great work with Southampton Children's Hospital. Any amount you can commit will be greatly appreciated. 

In 2014, actors Sarah Parish and James Murray founded The Murray Parish Trust in memory of their late daughter Ella-Jayne, who was born with a heart defect. Ella-Jayne spent half her life in Southampton’s paediatric intensive care unit and died at just eight months old.
The charity is dedicated to supporting projects both at Southampton Children’s Hospital and across the south of England which advance and enhance children’s physical and mental healthcare. Together we transform children’s health in hospital and in the community, so that we can save more lives and improve quality of life for children, giving them the very best chance to thrive and reach their full potential.

The money we raise this year will support a number of projects.

- Separate cubicles for critically ill children in PICU, providing them with privacy at a highly traumatic time for them and their families
- A variety of initiatives supporting children’s mental health, delivering
early and innovative interventions, as well as targeting specific groups which need more support. These will include: workshops to help parents support children with diabetes; mobile gaming carts to reduce the anxiety and stress of children in hospital; several pilot programmes to help children with medical conditions manage the impacts on their mental health; a partnership with Hampshire Cultural Trust to use a wide variety of art forms to help children with mental health issues express themselves and build their confidence and
resilience.
