Due to an accident during a training ride in which I sustained a broken hip the ride is in a bit of doubt for this year unfortunately, please do not donate at his time, I will post updates in the near furture as my re-habilitation continues. Thanks for your support.
On 18th April 2010, my uncle, Peter Franks lost his brave battle with a brain tumour. Brain tumours are not picky, uncle Pete was a fit strong and healthy man looking forward to retirement who just came home from work with a headache one day.
The great photo above is me and uncle Pete at his surprise 60th birthday party while he was fighting the illness.
Continued research is essential if more is to be understood about this form of cancer, less than 1% of cancer research funding goes toward brain tumour research yet they are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40. Please take time to visit the charitys website to understand the great work they do.
I feel extremely privileged to be able to combine my passion for cycling with raising funds for such a great charity and won't be taking the ride lightly. Training started last Autumn and is continuing well with the added benefit of losing 2 stone so far!
Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to read my story and please accept my sincerest thanks if you decide to support me in my challenge.
