Left undiagnosed and unsupported, dyslexia negatively impacts children and young people. It affects their self-esteem. Their ability to learn. Their life chances. With your support, Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity can help people with dyslexia from all backgrounds to believe, achieve and succeed.

Story

Hi Folks,

This won't have come as a big surprise to many of you, I've been telling everyone who'll listen that I'm running the marathon -including the postman, the cleaner, the old man who shouts around West Didsbury of a morning!

This year, I am again raising money for the Helen Arkell centre Dyslexia centre, they are a small charity who rely on donations to carry on thier fantastic work. Dyslexia is very common and can really impact a childs academic success and future path if it goes undiagnosed and unmanaged. With the right management and guidance dyslexics can harness the creative and dynamic thoughtprocess, which many see as a gift!

Dyslexics are a gifted bunch, can you guess who these famous dyslexics are:

1. This Top Gun, is not short of success.

2. English rose and squashbuckler, she used to bend it like beckham

3. The most famous Virgin of them all, his success will soon be intergalatic.

4. This actor doesn't get drunk, he gets Legolass!

5. This famous sports man floats like a butterfly.

So the training has been going well and I am so far upto 22 miles. So far the blisters have kept at bay and despite a few aches and pains (I have the hips of an 80 year old!) I am thoroughly enjoying it.  And don't think I'm just sitting back asking for your money. So far I have raised £250 making chilli and rice for all my willing colleagues at Brand Addition, with the now famous "Chilli Mondays" not to mention healthy sales of shortbread and lemon drizzle cake!

All that is left now is for you to donate, many of you have seen me out and about running morning and night, and of course the super embarrassing lunchtime runs, getting the miles in, so I can take on the marathon and raise the money I need. So please bear this in mind and dig deep!
