Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

At the age of just six, my partner went onto experience her first encounter of a family bereavement, not only had she lost two family members within the space of one week but both of these were to suicide, due to crippling depression. As a six year old child, she experienced the true devastation, heartache and suffering that suicide had truly caused. Completely unaware at such a young age, she was about to see just how suicide had changed the people that she knew and loved, forever. Although at such a young age she did not understand mental health, and she did not understand why these young men had taken their own lives, she would soon group up to endure this same battle herself.

Depression is one of the number one killers in people under the age of 35 and is still on the rise, Suicide has been devastating many families over the years and with the recent pandemic, we have continued to see a staggering increase in mental health conditions and suicide.

Me and my partner have arranged a suicide awareness event to "Get People Talking". Throughout my partners struggle with her own mental health, contacting Samaritans "just to talk" helped her get through another day when she felt she could not. Talking HAS saved lives and talking WILL continue to save lives.

We are here to eradicate the stigma that we have to fight these battles alone, no one is alone!

If this event was to save just one life and one family from suffering and the impact that suicide has, then all the efforts will have been worthwhile.
