Story
They reckon that half of us will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in our lives. That means either me as the writer, or you as the reader will have cancer.
But regardless of whether it is you or me, we will all be touched by cancer through our families and friends.
This has recently been brought home to me as some people who are very, very dear to me are having to start thinking about and talking about the possibility of having cancer.
This turns their lives upside down. It turns all our lives upside down.
If by running a marathon, I can support research that will reduce the number or my friends and loved ones, and your friends and loved ones, having to think and talk about cancer, then the pain of the marathon is a small price to pay.
And I do know that there will be pain. I have marathoned once before and said never again. I sobbed like a baby as I crossed the finish line and no doubt I will do the same again (see the pics for evidence).
So I know that this is a big deal.
Please help me make it worthwhile.
Please help me beat cancer.
