Story

Hello All!

Thank you so much for taking the time out to visit my page!

Let me bring you up to speed with my newest…and probably craziest challenge yet.

I have decided to enter the challenge that deems itself to be ‘probably the toughest challenge on the planet’…yes folks, yours truly is taking part in ‘TOUGH MUDDER’.

Now why on earth would I choose to go through a 12 mile military style obstacle course that includes but is not limited to…..

*Electroschock Therapy- consisting of live wires that carry up to 10,00 volts of electricity

*Arctic Enema- a dumpster filled with icy water that I will have to swim through

*Everest- a quarter pipe that I will have to run up that will be caked in mud and grease

*Funky Monkey- sounds more fun than the reality of the situation; picture monkey bars at both incline and decline that are covered with a deadly slippery mixture of mud….and BUTTER that will cross over more freezing water….best not lose my grip!

If these don’t sound hard enough, there are tunnels filled half way with water to work my way through, fire pits to dodge and more walls to somehow get up.

I wouldn’t actually subject myself to such horrific obstacles that will test not only my physical fitness but also my mental endurance while putting me face to face with my worst fear of all….icy water for no reason at all. I am doing this all for a very good cause and a charity that has become very near and dear to my heart….

Age UK Wakefield District

Age UK is the UK’s largest charity for older people with the overall aim of helping people in later life. We actively promote the well-being of older people and offer support through a variety of free services including information and advice, benefit checks, health and well-being and help to promote independent, healthy living for all people later in life.

Age UK Wakefield Branch (the one that I work for) offers many amazing services for older people that help them to stay independent, stay safe and most importantly, live life to the fullest.

This is a charity that I not only work for, but that I fully believe in. I have seen the help that we have been able to provide for people over the age of 50 in the Wakefield District in a multitude of ways whether it is through offering bereavement support through a difficult loss, helping a socially isolated individual find social groups and make friends, or to help someone in financial difficulties, Age UK have given older people their strength and independence and they are a place I am proud to work for.

Being that we are a charity, any help that you could give would be amazing and supports Age UK’s efforts in helping all people in later life.

Wish me luck!!
