Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Simon on the Streets is a charity that works with those who have complex needs and cannot or will not access other services.  Within that group the focus is on people who are homeless and rootless, especially those with issues related to rough sleeping.

The aim of the charity is to bring people leading solitary harmful lives, with little or no vision for a better future in from the margins of society. The charity will achieve this by supporting people to find aspirations and giving unlimited opportunities to achieve sustainable positive change.

We are spending an night with Leeds University's HOMED Society sleeping rough on cardboard boxes to try and raise awareness of the issues of homelessness and destitution in Leeds.

This charity is really important to us and we would really appreciate any donations, big or small. Initially we were both quite ignorant to the problems that homeless people face but having been on various vsits to shelters we've opened our eyes to the problem and want to help in any way we can. The sleeping on the streets will give us a real insight into how others live on a daily basis. Along with helping the charity we are doing this to take a step a back from our fortunate lives and truly step into someone else's shoes.
