Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This is a very special year for Age Concern Wiltshire as it is our 60th Anniversay and I am doing my best for our 'Big 60 Challenge' to ensure that the charity can bring friendship and help to more older people. I have been set a rigorous fitness challenge by Bodyworks Gym in Amesbury from April to September 2009. Each month I have to travel at least 60 kilometres on the bike, rower and cross trainer; each week I have to complete 60 repetions on a selection of weight training apparatus (and each month it gets harder!) and over the 6 months I have to lose at least 6 lbs. The big challenge is keeping it going over 6 months as well as fitting it all in between the day job of leading the charity and moving house!
I would really appreciate your support as every penny raised will make a real difference to an older person in need of help. I know it is a tough time for many people with the recession, but it is even tougher for older people especially when they are lonely and struggling to cope living on their own. As you will no doubt be aware, I am really passionate about the work we do and the services we offer. With the help of our staff and trained volunteers we provide a wide range of support incuding information and advice, help to claim benefits, befriending, a technology club supported by local sixthformers, help with digital switchover, home support for the frail and immobile, gardening and even toe nail cutting! Amazingly this is my 10th year at Age Concern Wiltshire and with your help I hope that both I and the charity will be fitter by the time I get to September!
With many thanks indeed for whatever you feel able to contribute.
Liddy
