Story
In January last year our Dad was diagnosed with end stage Heart Failure and Heart Diease. With 2 hospitals unable to support his case, he was left with no options and hoped that he would miraculously fight through his illness. Luckily after his case was reviewed at Harefield Hospital, he was placed on the urgent waiting list for a Heart Transplant.
After 11 potential calls for a heart it seemed as though the right match would never come. On his 12th call, he went in for his long awaited surgery and told us all he would see us in a few days. Surgery didn't go as we anticipated and he fell very sick, fighting for his life. Unfortunately he never made it out of surgery, as after 8 months of fighting his body gave up on him.
He never spent a second in hospital without a smile on his face and even before his surgery he kept on saying the suffering was nearly over. The most beautiful memories were made at Harefield Hospital with our father and we will always be thankful for the few extra months we got to spend with him. He was treated with the uttermost care, love and respect from all the staff who continue to do an outstanding job.
Last year he was proactively promoting the 10K at Harefield and was keen to make a difference. He had high hopes that this year he would be attending, fit and well. Although he is not here today, his efforts did not go a miss as Ricky's Angels won the most money raised at the last 10K Run, which without all your help would not be possible.
A group of us have decided to try and beat last years times and run 10K again at Harefield Hospital! Therefore we ask today for a generous donation in order to help the hospital to continue their research and save lives. Without your help this will not be possible and fewer transplantation's would be conducted each year.
We really hope you can donate whatever you can and if you cannot donate anything we would like to thank you for reading Ricky's story.
