Story
Hello friends, family and passer-byes!
Having recently graduated, I applied to International Citizen Service Programme
(ICS) to volunteer with Balloon Venures. Luckily enough I passed all the
interviews and assessment day and they have now offered me a place on their
programme!!
So, I will be volunteering with this incredible organisation called Balloon
Ventures (which is part of the Voluntary Service Overseas - VSO charity), which is creatively and successfully fighting the
evergreen issues of poverty. They do that by providing support to local
businessmen/women in Kenya and Uganda in setting up their own businesses and/or
helping them to grow. This is an incredible organisation, which does extraordinary work by providing knowledge, funding and
diffusion of tools and skills to the locals which in turn develops the country’s infrastructure,
benefitting the society on a larger scale. In such manner, not only
individual people will be helped out, but the living condition of a whole
society will be raised. It's the snowball effect at its best!
So, in order to keep this fairly brief, Balloon Ventures has offered me an
opportunity to be part of their amazing mission and therefore send me to
Kenya for 12 weeks in the end of September in order to support the local
entrepreneurs! But to be able to do
this, the organisation has set me a fundraising target of 800 pounds. However
this money is not for me to keep, but for VSO and for International Citizen
Service (it is the government funded program that finances these projects), so
they can keep the program running so more and more volunteers could be sent to
developing countries and to fund further projects to keep on fighting poverty
all around the world!
So now you've reached to the part where I humbly ask you to donate for the
charity, no matter how small or big is the amount, all the money goes for a
good cause. And in the upcoming weeks I will put my baking skills to the test
by doing bake sales, sell all my material possessions on boot sales and do all
sorts of embarrassing things! So if any of you have some spare change or is
willing to donate for this amazing cause, please do!
My
mission: To empower and inspire
budding entrepreneurs.
Thank you everyoneeeee!
