Story
My name is Lily, and I'm 4-years-old. I live in Seaforth, in Liverpool, and I'm appealing to the local community to help me fundraise for a specialist tricycle.
I have cerebral palsy, a condition that affects my balance and stability.
The tricycle is specially designed and will allow me to play outside for the first time and make new friends.
I start at Rimrose Hope Primary School, in September, so the tricycle will be really good for helping me to mix with other children.
Although I can walk I cannot ride a normal bicycle. I become tired, and get aches and pains in my legs, much quicker than children without my condition.
My dad, William, says that a specialist tricycle would be really good for me but told my mum that they are very expensive. He said to her: "The cost of the equipment is proving to be a real barrier. Specialist tricycles don’t come cheap and the one that Lily-Ann needs is an eye watering £1,071. This is way outside our budget.”
But now thanks to fundraising support from the charity Caudwell Children, mum and dad are looking to raise the funds we need to buy the tricycle.
My mum, Joanne, says the that the tricycle will do much more than just allow me to mix with my friends. She told my dad: "The specialist tricycle is designed to assist disabled children in their physical development and rehabilitation. They are engineered to make pedalling that much easier.
“So whilst Lily-Ann is having fun she will also be improving her core strength and co-ordination and will develop muscle tone in her legs."
Without the tricycle I won't be able to play out with my friends. That will make me sad!
My mum and dad said they are going to appeal to other adults to raise money for me so that I can have the tricycle that I need.
I would be so happy if you could support me. Thank you!
