Inverness Half Marathon & 5K 2019 · 10 March 2019 ·
Cancer has affected the lives of many of my close family and friends. Many heartbreakingly are no longer with us. Some thankfully won their battle and are cancer-free. Many battle on. My Auntie Ella has been living with cancer for years and has been so unbelievably resilient. She instructed me last year to make sure the next thing I did was for cancer, dressed as a fairy, so here we are.
The more I think about running this half marathon, I realise that cancer has claimed or affected the lives of more than one person I've loved for every mile I'll run. Family. Friends. Old and young. It's worthwhile to run in their memory, and to raise awareness for such a worthy charity. If fundraising contributes in any small way to those with cancer, or towards research to treat this devastating disease in the future, it will all be worthwhile.
