What's my story - why do I run? I'm clearly a woman designed for a little gentle yoga or a refreshing swim maybe, but not for pounding the pavement! All that red-faced jiggling!
But run I shall, and on a Sunday morning too!
...Well, a few years ago I found a lump. On it's discovery it and realising the possible implications, I fainted, straight out.
Then followed two weeks of Not Knowing.
Just a lump. I was lucky? Doesn't even cover it.
"Why me?"- how many times have I said that, usually with an exasperated sigh (lost keys, forgotten umbrella, spilled milk...).
When I feel like throwing myself a pity party, I remind myself to ask "Why me? -How come I get to be one of the lucky ones? How come my lump was only a lump?"
I count my blessings and rememeber those who still fight, with grace and dignity and humour through pain and anger I can't begin to imagine.
Please give what you can; the cost of a Latte or a Pint would be perfect.
THANK YOU - let's kick cancer's ugly arse!
