Story
Suicide prevention is a cause that has been important to me for several years.
Our mental health has been challenged by COVID like never before - isolation and separation from loved ones, as well as the absence of the distraction that normal life offers.
When I was thinking about what I might like for my birthday, I realised that the best present will be time with family and friends. Please make time for a good catch up and I would be very grateful if you would consider a charitable donation to the Ollie Foundation instead of a gift. Ollie is a local charity aimed at preventing youth suicide and I have been supporting and volunteering with them for over a year now.
More than anything, what will make my day is the increased awareness of this cause, and everyone taking an extra moment to think about being kind, both to others and to yourself. We all carry our own struggles and you never know what someone is dealing with so that pause to offer support is vital, and to not be afraid to ask for help.

In 2016, three parents who had all lost their teenage sons to suicide, vowed to do all they could to prevent other families suffering similar tragedies.The OLLIE Foundation (One Life Lost is Enough) is a registered charity funding suicide intervention skills training for adults working with young people.Since our registration in 2016 we have trained over 400 people in suicide prevention.Your fundraising helps us train even more people, break down the stigma attached to suicide, and increase awareness!
