I've chosen to raise money for Katharine House Hospice not only because I now work there, but because they provided fantastic At Home care to my dad during the last stages of his terminal cancer.  The wonderful care that they gave him meant that he could spend his last days in his own bed, at home, where he loved to be.  The Katharine House team took a lot of pressure off my mum as she was caring for him before they stepped in...they even did things like go and collect his drugs from the pharmacy, or do the ironing for mum, they were truly amazing.    They really looked after mum as well as dad - which in turn was a relief to me and my sister knowing they were both being supported.

Now that I work for Katharine House I understand even more how much Katharine House really rely on fundraising to keep going.  I wrongly assumed that they receive funding from the government; they do, but they get less than one third of the amount needed for them to keep providing free care to local people.  The rest of the money they need to run the hospice has to come from fundraising....

Please support Katharine House and help them to continue to care for people like my dad......I know that we would have really struggled to cope without them and dad would have probably ended up spending his last days in hospital.
