Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I was born and bred in Coalisland, Co. Tyrone and want to raise money for the Niamh Louise Foundation as it’s a local charity that, like so many mental health charities, has been badly affected due to funding cuts post pandemic. My heart is broke for so many families that are affected by suicide and self harming within Northern Ireland and especially within the area where I live.
The number of suicide deaths in Northern Ireland has increased and is the highest since 2015, new statistics show.
Latest statistics from 2021 show that, unfortunately, it’s on the increase within Northern Ireland. The latest figures for 2021 revealed there were 237 suicide deaths, an increase of 8.2% from the previous year and one in three of those deaths were someone aged under 30.
Suicide deaths were highest for men between the ages of 25 and 29 and 45 and 49, while for women the highest number of suicide deaths were between the ages of 20 and 24
As a mother, I worry about my children’s future mental health; I invest heavily in my own mental health by running regularly but I know that this isn’t for everyone.
The Niamh Louise Foundation helps people of all ages find the support they need which is why I want to help them continue this great work they do.
