My family and I watched my our nana gradually lose touch with her eccentric personality as a result of this incurable, heartbreaking disease. Once it had taken away her personality, it stole away her ability to swallow and thus she sadly left us earlier this year. Recently, there have been sudden advances in the prevention of developing dementia and this can only mean we are stepping in the right direction in tackling a disease which nobody should ever have to fear. To do my own little bit alongside friends and family, I am taking part in the South Shields Memory Walk October 2016 to help raise money for the charity, The Alzheimer's Society, which is close to my heart.
