Signpost Stockport for carers is a fantastic local charity that support carers in our area. They support carers in so many ways. From organising chats for carers to talk to one another, one to one chats for when you’re struggling, allowing you to have a good cry on their shoulders, advice on how to deal with the illness or behaviours you’re encountering, activities and events for you and your loved ones, to practical advice on what financial help is available to you and then help filling out forms to ensure you get that help. (E.g the attendance allowance form is 30 pages long, it’s like the government deliberately make it hard so you don’t ask for the help, but obviously that couldn’t possibly be the case 😉) 

Friends and family know that my Mum has been diagnosed with mixed dementia. Signpost staff have been a massive help to me and my Dad, through what is a really tough and sad time. And not just emotional help, strategies to help us deal with Mum and they’ve helped with those blasted forms too. I can’t thank them enough so Jilly had the great idea to move our arses and raise money for Signpost. If we can help in a small way, or help raise awareness so other local carers know that they are there, then we’ll be delighted.

So we’re going to run* the 10k which is part of the Great Manchester run on Sunday 26th September. 

*we will do our damndest to run the whole way.
