We provide information, help and support to sufferers of Pernicious Anaemia (PA) including their families and friends. Our Mission: To secure a full and comprehensive review of the way in which Pernicious Anaemia is diagnosed and treated that will lead to more timely diagnoses and better treatment

Story

I am a sufferer of PA and was diagnosed in May 2021, and started treatment (6 x loading doses of B12 injections) early June. I now need to have an injection every 3 months for life, this is just to enable me to live as near to normal life as possible.

My condition was discovered following number of blood tests following a GP appointment for a chronic pain I had in my right side which had been ongoing for approx 3 weeks, in truth this was probably longer but the last 3 weeks prior to seeking help gradually became more painful to bare.

I gave up my dream job of a Health & Fitness Coach, after just 4 short months due to ongoing (still under investigation) issues which are affecting my physical and mental health - ironic that i am taking on a number of  running challenges!!

I believe I am one of the lucky ones, in that I have the ability to physically do it (on my good days)................which is why I am doing this for fellow sufferers who have much worse symptoms than myself!

Our Mission: To secure a full and comprehensive review of the way in which Pernicious Anaemia is diagnosed and treated that will lead to more timely diagnoses and better treatment by: Providing information to patients and health professionals. Providing help and support to patients and their families. Engaging in research with the health research community Lobbying decision makers
