At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

This is my husband Paul who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 2003 at the age of 61, although he showed the symptoms some years beforehand.  This debilitating illness has destroyed his life.  It is not just about a failing memory as many people think – it has taken over his body too.  Paul can do nothing for himself.  He cannot see, feed himself, stand up or walk and is doubly incontinent. The list goes on. He requires two carers to move him and has been in full time care for 7 years.  It not only affects the elderly – much younger people than Paul can be and often are victims of this dreadful disease.  Please help the Alzheimer’s Society to try to find a cure.
