We raise funds for children with cancer to help them through treatment using play.

Story

This month I have set myself the challenge of running 100km in order to raise money for The Give A Duck Foundation. This will certainly be a challenge for me as I am a recreational runner who frequently falls out with running!

This local charity supports children with cancer, and their families by giving them Chemo Ducks and Huggable Hopes. Chemo Ducks are fitted with medical lines and ports to mirror those of the child. Through play the children are prepared for the long, challenging and sometimes painful journey they take.

Huggable Hope helps siblings deal with the challenges they face.  Siblings often feel guilt because they are not the “ill” one and go through their own struggle with their emotions and place in the family unit.

As a mum, I cannot even begin to understand the pain that a parent goes through when their child has cancer. So for this reason, I will be out in the dark, rain and wind to hit my target. The pain that I will go through is nothing compared to a parent who is going through the worst time of their lives. I want to support this simple yet effective way of supporting these children in their time of need.

Any donation is welcome and for every £25 you help me raise it will provide a Chemo Duck.
