Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In a very short time indeed, on Sunday 13th May, I'll be taking part in my first triathlon at Stowe in Buckinghamshire, which consists of 750m swim (in a lake....a cold lake), 26k cycle, 5k run. Lack of talent in any of the 3 sports is not deterring me - if I don't drown I'll consider the day a success.
I thought this would be a good opportunity to raise some money for charity. I've chosen Macmillan Cancer Support - as this is one of the favourite charities of my friend Chris Russon who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in July 2011. Despite his increasing lack of mobility he remains cheerful and welcoming. However, every day brings new challenges for him and his wife Jenny, and they really appreciate the support they receive.
Chris has been an avid runner, being one of the first people to welcome me into the wonderful world of hashing (http://www.hashing.org/) around 10 years ago....I consider it partially his fault that I am even contemplating this shameful attempt at athleticism ;-)
I started this training thinking that this will most likely be the only triathlon I'll ever do....but somehow I've enjoyed it more than I expected to. However, if I do somehow decide that a second is a good idea then I'll not be asking for sponsorship (unless it's a Ironman...and that'll never happen, right?) so this could be your one and only chance to sponsor me for 3 sports in one.
Thanks for reading this far, will attempt to post photos once I've completed...assuming I make it through the drowning hazard.
