As the first ever Liverpool Sikh Society running club we’re hoping to push ourselves to reach our target of completing our first ever Liverpool Half Marathon whilst raising money for Khalsa Aid, a humanitarian charity who do fantastic work supporting those in need across the globe.

Whether it be providing relief to those affected by Hurricane Mathew in Haiti, to providing food and support to those affected by the conflict in Iraq or providing educational support to Syrian refugees in Lebanon, Khalsa Aid’s volunteers are always there to provide much needed relief to those most in need. Their work has really inspired us which is why we have chosen them to be our sponsored charity and we hope that we can raise as much money as possible to help them continue their inspirational work.

So far we’ve pushed ourselves to reach our weekly targets as part of our running club. Initially it was a daunting challenge with many of us being new to running. However, over the last few weeks, as a team, we’ve put in a lot of hard work to make sure we’re ready to complete the half marathon and it’s been a pleasure to be part of such a great group. With only four weeks left there’s plenty of hard work and dedication in order but with the motivation of raising money for such a worthy cause in mind we’re sure that we can rise to the challenges ahead.
