The intervention of the Covid pandemic in early 2020 severely restricted Liz's fundraising activities, and we know how disappointed she was by this. The following is an extract from an email that Liz wrote in June 2020 to an Inner Wheel colleague.
My reason for choosing Porchlight was that it doesn't seem much more desperate in life than being alone with nowhere to live and no hope of changing that. It can happen to anyone, for many different reasons and numbers are increasing dramatically. I was particularly concerned about the number of women living rough, where they are even more vulnerable than the men and have such a low life expectancy.
I considered many different very deserving charities but my heart kept taking me back to Porchlight. It not only provides shelter and food but tackles the problem at the heart of each individual and helps them back to normal life.
