As many of you know I was diagnosed with bowel cancer in January 2015 aged just 51. By the time of my diagnosis the cancer had already spread to my liver. I hadn't had a bowel movement for 4+ weeks by the time I had my surgery in November 2014; I was told by my GP surgery to take Senakot and then the following week I was prescribed lactolose syrup. I took myself to A&E because I felt so ill by which time the tumour had very nearly ruptured my bowel. If this had happened I would not be here asking you to help me now. I put off going to see my GP because I was embarrassed to talk about my pooing habits and worried they wouldn't take me seriously. I was right! But, sadly, people are literally dying of embarrassment every day because they feel the same way I did. We all poo! Bowel cancer does not discriminate, just because the screening doesn't start from age 55/60 in this country it doesn't mean you're exempt at age 35 or younger.
Please help me to support a cause very close to my heart. Without the research into this disease, together skills of the surgeons and my oncologist at the local hospital I wouldn't be here and able to attend my son's wedding in June.
