I'm currently raising money to go to Costa Rica for a twelve-month placement beginning January 2018 as part of the Inter-Cultural Youth Exchange Programme (ICYE UK). ICYE UK is a charitable, not-for profit organisation working in youth development. The company focus on an exchange of skills, values and ideas, and providing help where it is truly needed.

I will be working with a local non-governmental organisation in Costa Rica which supports some of the most disadvantaged sectors within the country. My placement is yet to be confirmed, however it is intended that I will be working within education; giving support to the carers and children within a NGO. In this way it's a great opportunity to put my degree into practice!

As some of you may know I’m keen on challenges. Living in a country I have never been to, adapting to a foreign language and working amongst people I have never met is going to be a challenge.This is not going to be a holiday; I will not be sipping cocktails by the beach all day every day for a year. This will be real work, improving the lives of local people in Costa Rica, and adapting to a new lifestyle.
