Story

Hi everyone! Its Saz and Llinz

Thank you so much for visiting our page and donating to the Lymphoma Association. On the 23rd April 2011 we are going to do a tandem skydive in order to raise money for the Lymphoma Associations 25th Anniversary. Something we are both a little terrified by!

The Lymphoma association is important to us as we have both fought and beaten Hodgkins Lymphoma, a cancer mainly affecting people between 15-30, you don't expect people this young to get cancer right! The Lymphoma association does work to raise awareness of Lymphoma, bet most of you had no idea what it was before we had it! And of the symptons of Lymphoma, so it can hopefully be caught in the earlier stages, plus support to those with Lymphoma in a variety of ways, providing information on treatment and a buddy system and helpline so there is always someone on hand to talk to.

Llinos has fought, and conquered Lymphoma twice, once and as teenager, and then unfortunately the disease returned 8 years later in 2008 when she was 24. Following chemotherapy and radiotherapy she was given the all clear in 2009.

Sarah was diagnosed in 2009 at the age of 26, and following chemotherapy, radiotherapy and a stem cell transplant was given the all clear in  February 2011.

We met in 2005, having both just finished University, we were temping in a call centre before we went on the get 'proper jobs'. Having lost touch for a few years Llinos heard through a mutual friend about Sarah's cancer and got in touch, after a couple of emails we realised that not only did we have the same cancer but also were being treated in the same hospital and even had the same consultant! Having someone who knows exactly what you are going through has been invaluable, and now we are both cancer free we want to help others affected by this disease.

Founded by patients in 1986, the Lymphoma Association is the only specialist UK charity that provides accurate medical information and support to lymphatic cancer patients, their families, friends and carers.

When patients learn they have lymphatic cancer, whether this is Hodgkin or non-Hodgkin lymphoma, they often know little about it. In these circumstances, it is natural to feel fear or anxiety. However, the Lymphoma Association believes that knowledge conquers fear, so continually works to provide accurate medical information and emotional support to anyone affected by lymphoma.
