We are fundraising for Norfolk & Norwich Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to say thank you for all their hard work and kindness.
Logan was born by emergency C-Section on 15th April 2020 at West Suffolk Hospital. After a great start at life he fell severely ill at 2 days old and was blue-lighted to Norfolk & Norwich Hospital. He was admitted to the NICU where he was diagnosed with NEC, a dangerous infection of the gut. He was extremely poorly and as his condition deteriorated he was taken for life saving surgery at just 4 days old. He had a stoma and seemed to recover well. After a series of set backs and infections, Logan developed a blockage in his bowel requiring a second emergency surgery which resulted in a new stoma. After having such a difficult time, Logan was unable to gain weight without the help of TPN (a type of fluid nutrition). After lots of worried days and sleepless nights Logan had a stoma reversal surgery to reconnect his bowel much earlier than planned. In total we spent the first 4 months of his life in hospital, during a pandemic! Thanks to the incredible surgeons, doctors, nurses and other staff of the NICU, Logan has made an incredible recovery. His Dad Dave, and I, couldn't be more grateful for all the work and care that went into looking after, not just our beautiful son, but also us as a family. There is no doubting they saved Logan's life more than once! They really are amazing!
To say thank you, we would like to raise as much money as possible which will go towards equipment and supplies for the NICU. We have started by selling rainbow biscuits at our family bakery and will be holding a larger fundraising event at some point after the lockdown of Covid-19 has been lifted.
