Stephen's London-Norwich-London

London-Norwich-London · 29 August 2015
This bank holiday weekend I'm planning to cycle from London to Norwich and then back again on Monday. My primary motivation is that I enjoy cycling and that it would be a nice personal achievement to tick off, as well as getting to escape London and catch up with some friends and my family.
Speaking to a friend about my plans he referred to it as, "mental", and "crazy". I recently saw Bryony Kimmings and Tim Grayburn's 'Fake it Til you make it' on the subject of clinical depression - the biggest killer of men under 50 in the UK today.
The show is a raw, honest (and beautiful) portrayal of living with and 'coping' with the mental illness. I'm sure it took a lot of courage to make, Bryony and Tim deserve great credit for baring a little of themselves in their performances confronting the social stigma of mental health and what it is to be a "real man". I personally don't have the superlatives to do it justice. You can read more about the show here.
I'm not a writer, and I'm unlikely to ever have the courage to stand in front of an audience in my pants. I do like cycling, however. To that end, I am attempting to raise a few pounds for the campaign against living miserably, £239, a £ for each of the miles from London to Norwich and back again.
I think it's a wonderful and important cause, any donation to my mental cycle would be gratefully received.
