As some of you may be aware our Mum was diagnosed with diverticular disease over three years ago.
Following her first 13 hour operation my brother and I were told by the surgeon that he feared for our Mums life whilst he was operating on her. It wasn’t until then that we realised the severity of Mums illness. Two years on, another operation later Mum is still not back to her optimum health. She has one more operation to go through and we can only hope that she can then get her life back on track.
Mum has been fantastic through it all and has somehow managed to keep positive and remain smiling.
There have been many times when we have felt helpless; all I wanted to do was take away the pain and worry that Mum was experiencing. Unfortunately I couldn’t. As a way of showing my love for Mum and my gratitude to the surgeons and nurses that saved her life I decided I would run the London Marathon. I have chosen the charity 'Core' who research gut and liver disease. I hope the money I raise will be used to carry out research on diverticular disease.
Mum might have not been here to celebrate this New Years Eve (as shown in the photo above) if it wasn’t for the research this charity carries out and therefore I hold them close to my heart.
I have got to raise £4,000.00 in addition to training which is a mammoth task. At the moment I can just about run 10k so the training starts today and hopefully the fund raising will too.
Every penny counts and I would be grateful if you could help me reach this target and would like to thank-you in advance for your generosity.
